The main plot follows the story of a family that is forced from their home and move to their grandfather’s farm. While there, they discover that he had a lot of secrets about his past and get the chance to know about the real him through his belongings that were left behind.
The town starts to experience many earthquakes, which was unusual for the area. During one of these quakes, the children have a paranormal encounter and soon learn about their connection to the Ghostbusters of the past.
Interestingly enough, the sequel for a third Ghostbusters has been in development since 1990. While the concept of this third movie never made it on to the movie screen, the plot Dan Aykroyd wrote for it was used to make a Ghostbusters video game in 2009.
Since the movie’s conception in the 90s, it went through a lot of rewrites and had many major changes, mostly due to the main actors in the first movie being hesitant to make another sequel. One major aspect of the script that never changed, was that it was to be a way to pass the series to the newest generation.
Both the 90s script and the version that we see in the trailer have kids as the main characters. In addition to this, you might be excited to know that Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Annie Potts, and Sigourney Weaver are confirmed to be back in this movie with their original roles. It will be interesting to see the familiar members of the Ghostbusters team interacting with the new group on the big screen.
