The New Mutants Official Trailer

The New Mutants
Release Date: August 28, 2020

This is another horror and super-hero movie combo, based on the story behind a comic book of the same name. The trailer shows five young people trapped in a special facility, where they need to learn to use their powers effectively to escape. They face terrifying eyeless monsters that seem dedicated to hunting them down.

The trailer was thrilling and you can get a feel for the upcoming action sequences, something that Marvel excels at. Seeing this production company tackle darker and more suspenseful themes is exciting- although exactly how scary this movie is going to be is still unclear.

One of the lead actors, Charlie Heaton, has stated that the film will be scary. Although he was not allowed to give out any details, he did mention that he thinks The New Mutants did an excellent job of following its horror roots.

While the trailer makes the movie look great, many fans have some concerns. Mainly, how long the film’s release has been delayed. The New Mutants was supposed to release in April of 2018, but was delayed for reshooting, then was delayed again when Disney acquired 20th Century Fox. Of course, being further delayed after that because of the COVID-19 pandemic is no issue at all, the many reshooting sessions are what have fans worried. However, if you enjoy movies taking place in the X-Men universe, you will probably enjoy this horror addition.

Someone who stood out in the cast was Maisie Williams. You might remember her as Arya from Game of Thrones. Her dedication to her characters is what fans love the most about seeing her on-screen. In Game of Thrones, she went so far as to do everything left-handed, since George R.R. Martin mentioned that Arya was left-handed in his books. It will be exciting to see her tackle the character Rahne Sinclair/Wolfsbane in The New Mutants.
